NYRA delivers services through a workflow process that uses public network infrastructures, virtual private networks (VPN), and NYRA’s Web-based RIS and proprietary workflow technologies. Our network has been designed to be secure, scalable, efficient and reliable.

 
 

Workflow Process

1. Site implementation

  • Our site-implementation engineers work with the technology personnel of each facility to establish firewall permissions for client access to our Web-based RIS and to configure a VPN circuit to transfer digital imaging and communications in medicine-compliant images.

  • A training session is conducted by telephone to educate the key personnel about this process.

 

 

2. Requisition of reads

  • The technologist supplies any necessary information, including procedural and relevant clinical data, and verifies the order.

  • The order is automatically tracked and monitored by the Operations Center.

  • The status of the order is available to the client facility technologist at all times.

 

3. Image transmission and assignment

  • The images and data are directed via encrypted transmission to an affiliated radiologist who is properly licensed in the relevant state, privileged at the applicable client facility and has the appropriate subspecialty training for the particular read.

  • The Operations Center constantly monitors radiologist caseloads and the status of orders and oversees assignment of additional subspecialty radiologists.

 

4. Reports and delivery            

  • When the report has been completed, the radiologist electronically signs the report and activates the send function, which immediately posts the report on the client facility computer’s RIS screen for viewing. The report is simultaneously faxed to the proper destinations at the client facility.

  • In some cases, the information contained in the report is directly entered into the patient’s file residing on the client facility’s internal information system through an HL7 integration.

  • Facility personnel may print a copy of the report on demand from the RIS.

NYRA employs information technology professionals to maintain our systems and network and provide technical support to clients. NYRA clients have access to this technical support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
